Alberto Maffei Alberti
Born in Imola on the 4th June 1935. Since 1985, he has been Professor of commercial law in the Faculty of Law at the University of Bologna. He previously taught, in the same faculty, courses in private law and later in bankruptcy law . Prior to this he gave courses in economic law at the University of Modena and in commercial law at the University of Ferrara.
He is the author of numerous publications in the field of commercial law (see later section on publications).
In 1978 he started together with Piero Schlesinger from the University of Milan and Giorgio Cian from the University of Ferrara, the quarterly review Le Nuove Leggi Civili Commentate which is now entering its twenty-fifth year of publication. The review highlights all new laws issued by the Italian Judicial system which have some relevance to private law.
As a practising lawyer he has always worked in the field of commercial law, more particularly in the areas of company law, banking law and bankruptcy law. He is chairman of the Board of Directors of BER BANCA s.p.a.. The banks has its headquarters in Bologna and is involved largely in private banking.
